  • Matruseva – New Jersey

Serving the Community with a Mother's Love A mother providing unconditional love to her children and good nourishment for her child is a primary desire. Matruseva, which is made up of Matru (Motherly) and Seva (Service), refers to both the love and the service that a mother provides to her children. It is absolutely unconditional and often provided even before it is asked for. Our founder, Pujya Shri Mathioli Saraswathy, has established this service program to extend this ideology. Matruseva programs have been conducted in our parent organization, Nandalala Seva Samithi in India, for several years.  Under this umbrella, various programs are conducted by teams of Nandalala Mission volunteers across the country to provide food and nourishment to the needy in the community and across the world. In New Jersey, we have been gathering volunteers, young and adult, to pack lunches for a soup kitchen for several years. × Get Involved Join us for an event Host brown bag packing Buy ingredients Donate

  • Project Sunshine

Inculcating Responsibility and Empathy in the Younger Generation While Caring for the Elderly One of the growing concerns in developed societies is the loneliness individuals experience. The elderly are the most affected, and all they need is for someone to spend some time with them. What better way to reach out to them than with children who can be viewed as akin to their own grandchildren or great grandchildren? Project Sunshine began March 2016 with a dual purpose: to alleviate the loneliness amongst seniors while helping children develop a sense of responsibility through nurturing and caring elders. The senior center is a small facility with 4-6 seniors currently living there. So far, one teenager accompanied by a parent visits the center once every fortnight to play board games or word games or conduct simple art & craft projects with the seniors. There are plans to increase the frequency once additional youngsters are trained for such activities.   × Get Involved Get your teen to be trained Co-ordinate sessions Identify additional facilities

  • Nandalala Youth Music Group – Florida

Encouraging Budding Musicians Nandalala Youth Music Group of Florida was founded in 2005 under the guidance of Pujya Shri Mathioli Saraswathy. The aim of the Nandalala Youth Music Group is to provide opportunities every month to musically inclined youths to sing, dance, and render devotional songs with correct shruti and taalam to the accompaniments of instrumental music. Performances last for at least half an hour in front of interested parents. It gives a platform for upcoming artists to showcase their talents in a nurturing atmosphere. Following the main performance, other interested children present at the concert are encouraged to dance or render short songs. This endearing atmosphere puts all children at ease and the encouragement has made even the most reluctant, timid child come out of his or her shell and perform on stage, thus paving the way for his or her artistic journey. In order to have a regular monthly schedule of concerts in Florida, we started RAGAM-based concerts in 2017. Instead of 1 main performer, 5 to 7 main singers perform, each of whom sings various kiranas in the same raga. We are also introducing music-based quizzes for keeping children more interested and involved. In addition to organizing monthly concerts, Nandalala Youth Music Group of Florida also organizes fundraisers for the benefit of Nandalala Charitable activities in India. We had fundraisers in 2010, 2013, and 2016. During the 2016 fundraising event, we also raised funds by releasing a souvenir commemorating the tenth anniversary of Nandalala Youth Music Group – Florida. This souvenir presents a collection of success and inspirational stories of children who have performed at events sponsored by Nandalala Music Group of Florida. It is very heartening to read their accounts of their experiences and how they continue to be inspired by them even today. It is quite a keepsake as it includes our founder's pictures and profile. To a Healthier Lifestyle by Enjoying the Outdoors Nandalala Mission started a hiking club for kids and adults in January 2017. This club hopes to bring people together on some weekends to enjoy and appreciate various natural sights and sounds around this naturally rich area while in good company. Hikes will be selected from different regions of the Bay Area about once every 4-6 weeks. The hike is conducted by Nandalala volunteers. Hikes will be ≤5 miles in total length but will vary in distance. Hikes will be chosen so as to not be steep, rocky, or dangerous. Hikes will be on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Weather will be taken into consideration and alternate dates will be provided in such instances. The chosen hike and link to its description will be sent in advance to enable hikers to make an informed choice. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from hiking location and entry fee (if any). Hikers are expected to wear appropriate footwear, hats, and sunscreen and to bring drinking water. We request that any kids under 8 years of age be accompanied by a parent. We plan to maintain 4:1 kids to adult ratio for safety reasons.
