Nandalala Mission SFO Chapter – Vinayaka Chathurthi Celebrations at Thulasi, August 29th – 30th

Dear All,

With the divine blessings of our Guru and Founder of Nandalala Mission, Her Holiness, Pujyashri Mathioli Saraswathy, we are planning to celebrate Vinayaka Chathurthi on the following days:

Venue:
Thulasi
3405 Cabrillo Avenue
Santa Clara, CA 95051

Program: Group chanting of “Sarva Vigna Haram Devam” 108 times
Date: Friday, August 29th, 2014
Time: 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM for group chanting
General Thulasi timings are 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for regular visit

Program: Vinayaka Abhishekam as per the guidance provided by our Guru, Her Holiness, Pujyashri Mathioli Saraswathy, for prosperous rains in California.
Date: Saturday, August 30th, 2014
Time: 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM for the abhiskeham. Last abhishekam will begin at 12:15 PM.
Last 30 minutes will be for preparing the Lord for Maha Aarthi at 1:00 PM. Temple will close at 1:00 PM.

Timings will be followed very strictly, so please plan ahead to spend time for the abhishekam. Do not rush.

Abhishekam can be performed with the following items:

1. Water with pure sandalwood paste/powder and edible camphor (pachai kalpooram in tamil)
2. Yogurt mixed with sugar
3. Milk
4. Honey
5. Tender coconut

Devotees can bring any one of the above items to perform the abhishekam. You can mix the items and bring it or come and mix it at Thulasi (for items 1 and 2) based on your convenience.

Step 1: Offer any one of the above items as abhishekam to the Lord
Step 2: Collect the abhishekam items from the Lord as prasadam in a cup/bowl
Step 3: Say any Ganapathy/Vinayaka prayer of your choice
Step 4: Offer fresh flowers to the Lord
Step 5: Offer any one fruit as neivedhiyam (offering)
Step 6: Offer 12 Thoppukarnams (squats in front of the Lord with hands crossed over opposite ears)
Step 7: Pour clean water over the idol and clean it and make the Lord ready for the next abhishekam performance
Step 8: Distribute the collected prasadam to fellow devotees
