Sri Satyanaranayana pooja is from Skandha puranam, Reva kaandam. Shounaka Maharishi and others asked Suta Puraanika an important question. “How can man fulfill his desires? Who should he worship?” Suta said Devarishi Narada also asked this question of the Lord Narayana himself, to which the lord said that Satya Narayana pooja is done for the benefit of mankind, and the performer of this pooja will have all his wishes fulfilled. Satya Narayana is a form of Lord Vishnu, who is an embodiment of truth, and this pooja is performed by reciting the gracious story of Lord Satyanarayana himself.
