Nandalala’s Relief Efforts – Cyclone Thane

With PujyaShri AKKA’s blessing, Nandalala volunteers are actively involved in the relief efforts to help people who have been displaced in the aftermath of the Cyclone Thane that hit Pondicherry, Cuddalore and the surrounding coastal areas. Heavy rains lashed out Chennai and its metropolitan area on the last 3 days of 2011.

Having been an eyewitness to the havoc caused by Tsunami, one is inclined to under estimate the destruction caused by a cyclone. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Abject reality stared at us when we got out there on last Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Trees were uprooted, electric poles had fallen, electric wires were scattered across , roofs smashed out and sections of roads were completely damaged – couple of  villages have been completely washed out. People with adolescent children and teenagers are stranded with no water, no food, no electricity and no homes for almost a week and counting…

Our efforts included delivering 300 10 liter gallons of fresh water, 1500 satchets of fresh water, thousands of candles and match sticks.  PujyaShri AKKA has sent another group of volunteers last Saturday with fresh water, candles and match sticks.

Nandalala Mission is participating in the relief efforts by accepting donations. Since the effort is time critical, the Mission has already sent 1000 USD. If you are interested in our efforts, please donate by Tuesday, January 31, 2012. All funds collected will be directly used for the relief effort.

You can donate either in cash or by check payable to Nandalala Mission or CLICK HERE to donate with credit card online at our website

Thanks for all your help.

Best Regards,

Jai Shri Nandalala!!!
