Goddess Parvathi, the divine consort of Lord Shiva is the main deity of this Homam. Lord Siva himself gave the Swayamvara Parvati Mantra to Goddess Parvati. This mantra enabled her to reunite with her divine consort on numerous occasions:
Sri Devi, daughter of Himagiri, found Lord Siva and marries him. Dakshan’s daughter, Dakshayini marries Lord Siva. On an other occasion, Meenakshi, marries Lord Sundareswarar. Goddess Parvathi does penance at Mangadu and at the blessing of Lord Siva marries Him at Kanchipuram. Swayamvara Parvati Homam is performed to appease Goddess Parvati Devi, who blesses everyone with a good life partner and a happy married life.
Benefits on Performing the Pooja:
- One attains an ideal life partner
- Strengthens the relationship between husband and wife
- Removes obstacles that delay one’s marriage
- Bestows childless couples with children
- Overall happiness of the family
- Strengthens the weak planetary positions
